Beth Owl's Daughter - Practical Wisdom for Extraordinary Living

Greetings! I'm reading with interest Beth Owl's daughter's articles on the Tarot. But I missed the earlier ones, and I'm wondering how you compute the numbers she refers to from your birthdate. Do you add up m/d/y? Do you use the whole year (ex 1955) or just the 55? Thanks for your help.

Hi! Karen Newton at Innerchange Magazine kindly forwarded me your inquiry about my Tarot articles. I am so glad you are enjoying them. I believe there are links on each one that can take you to previous and subsequent articles.

Your question is a very good one. There are several different methods I have seen in doing numerology, and they can certainly make a difference.

The Tarot profile works like this:

April 25, 1957 would be 4+25+1,957 = 1986
1+9+8+6 =24

Since the Major Arcana only goes to 22, we would reduce the 24 to 6. Thus, this person's Soul/Personality card would be VI - The Lovers. If, on the other hand, someone had a birthday of Feb. 13, 1937, it works like this:

2+13+1,937 = 1952
1+9+5+2 = 17

Since there is a 17 in the Major Arcana portion of the Tarot, and also 1+7 = 8, this person would have a combination profile that would include XVII - The Star, and also VIII - Strength.

Isn't this fun? I really love doing these profiles. While I've been working with the cards for over 30 years, this new twist only came to my attention a few years ago, and I am having so much fun exploring and researching it.

Anyway, I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to write anytime, and if you would be interested in receiving *your* own (more detailed) overview, including what the coming year's energy will be, email me your snail mail address and the month, day and year of your birth. No charge. I just love having people get excited about the Tarot!

Many blessings to you, Beth
