Summer of the Noble Cause

Spring fever is giving way to the warmth of summer and planetary energies will cause profound changes in the way many of us view the world around us.

This could well be called the summer of our noble cause. Everyone has an issue or area of focus they feel is important to them, be it feeding the hungry or saving the rain forest. Sun trine Neptune during this period ignites a call to humanitarian causes and volunteering. The urge to become involved with social and humanitarian causes has been stirring in many of us the past several months and the active energy of summer helps bring it to the surface. This will bring about positive results both a personal level and within communities.

The past few months have focused on home and family. Home based businesses have been on the rise and travel has decreased. Summer brings a new focus and a broader scope of concern. Jupiter is finishing its tour in Cancer. This has been an excellent placement for the planet of expansion. This aspect has helped the struggling economy and our personal financial security. Its biggest effect though is the area of home, family life and spiritual values. Moral principles and religion have played important roles since this transit began back in July 2001. We are questioning the morals of our life's direction both on an individual basis and has a country. In the midst of the "war against terrorism" we must question how we are each affected and what the future holds.

The outer planets, Uranus and Neptune are both in Aquarius, moving us into the true Aquarian age. While that may seem hard to believe during these stressful time, the stirrings of social change are active slightly below the surface. We can expect changes to continue at a slow pace in June and July since both of these planets are retrograde.

There are still some heavy planetary aspects affecting us. Saturn in opposition to Pluto is a continuing cause for concern. This is an important factor in the troubles that have been plaguing us since last year. Pluto in Sagittarius is associated with foreign issues and affairs. Saturn in Gemini can create feelings of anxiety and a tendency to approach everything from the logical, thinking side of the brain. While this can be beneficial where a logical process is needed, it can also be a hindrance and cause some to be out of touch with the emotional and intuitive side. Communications are an important aspect during this time and you may find them to be rather extreme. Clear and concise one day, erratic and confused the next. Saturn in Gemini energy rarely gives a feeling of satisfaction. This is a disruptive energy and it could turn this into a summer of discontent. Nervous energy should be channeled in different directions so that it is not harmful. If you feel this aspect affecting you, stop and breathe! A few minutes of meditation a day will work wonders.

Themes of fantasy and escapism that became popular in late spring continue into summer. After the difficult times of the last nine months, people are looking for distractions. The positive side here is that we can expect a growth period for the fine arts and an increase of creative energy. On the downside, we can also expect the escapist attitude to add to an increased drug use, especially among the younger generation. We can also expect new and deadlier drugs to begin hitting the streets.

Mars squares Uranus during the early summer. Squares are difficult aspects and these two planets relate to energy and technology. Expect problems with power sources, computers and computer security. We may also have to deal with issues involving the country's borders during this time. Energy sources can be a point of turmoil with continued pressure to tap into America's protected areas for oil reserves. July is a risk period for our nation's leaders. It is important to focus light around them now, especially the president.

Weather patterns will be unstable. Expect a higher than normal number of summer storms and problems with high heat in many areas. The drought plaguing many parts of the country will not let up and in fact will continue to become worse during June and especially July.

Mars will be in Cancer until July 14th when it moves into Leo. Mars in Leo is a fiery, active energy and is conducive to producing "summer flings" This energy can be focused towards the pursuit of active spiritual activities. Venus will travel through Cancer, Leo and Virgo during this period. If you are looking for a serious long term relationship, continue to follow your spiritual path in an active manner and you will encounter many opportunities for true love. Be careful about committing to anything serious during the first week of June.

Chiron is in Capricorn during the summer and this represents the healer on the earth plane. This is helpful to business and the material world. The investment areas of choice this summer are gold and real estate. These should stay stable despite the uncertainty of the general economy. Financial prospects are actually calm for the most part and it is still a good period to begin home based businesses. There is still a need to balance wealth and material goods with the spiritual prosperity many are seeking.

The choices are clear, if we choose to fall into the anxiety and tension around us then little will be accomplished and it will truly be a summer of discontent. Hopefully we will all listen carefully to the stirrings in our souls and pursue a spiritual direction. Acts of kindness and humanitarian work can feed the soul and nourish the spirit. This will give us a deeper connection to higher powers and our fellow man. This is a time to find the cause that resonates with your heart and work in a positive way to change the vibration of our world. Let's remember this has a summer of noble work and transformational energy.
