April/May 2002
Spring is in the air! And so is Transformation!
Some chal-lenging aspects are presented to us all during the
months of April and May. We have seen a tremendous amount
of change around us in the last several months, and there
is more to come. This is a time to be prepared and to stay
in balance through the changes facing us. As with all periods
of transformation, we can choose to go with the flow and benefit,
or try to fight against it and encounter frustration.
The red planet Mars will be a powerful
influence during the coming months. Mars will be in the earth
sign Taurus until April 14th, when it moves into Gemini. Since
Mars is a fiery, active energy, many will find they have an
overwhelming desire to "make something happen."
This can be a time that sets many people on edge and frays
the nerves. Despite this burning desire to "do something,"
this is actually not the time to make rash decisions. Mars
energy can be impulsive and pushy. In times of stress, this
can lead to poor decisions and a lack of spiritual focus.
On many levels, this is a time of confrontation. Be careful
with your own expressions of anger, especially in the work
place. You may find those around you to be easily antagonized
or threatened during this period. It is best to realize that
these expressions are not personal, but are a result of confusion
and inner turmoil. You may also notice a feeling of being
physically drained. This too is a result of the stress and
tension that everyone is experiencing. If there's an issue
that you've stuck on the back burner, take heed; it can now
catch fire. On the positive side, if you are willing to face
these "demons," the warrior energy Mars can be a
powerful ally. Now more than ever, issues can be conquered
and paradigms can be changed.
There will continue to be an increase
in the numbers of people seeking spiritual guidance and traditions.
Churches have experienced a surge in memberships and other
spiritually-based organizations are growing. This return to
spiritual beliefs and practices will continue to grow and
adds a positive vibration to the chaos around us.
Jupiter spends April and May in the sign
of Cancer, where it is the strongest. Many retail business
struggled over the holidays, and we have now seen another
round of bankruptcies and reorganizations. Jupiter actually
went direct in the month of March and helped in the slight
bounce back in the nation's economy. Although some retail
business are still reeling from weak holiday sales, we can
expect to see a continued increase in online and home-based
businesses. The stock market however, will continue to reflect
the uncertain trend that already has investors nervously buying
and selling in fits of fear and excitement. Use great caution
when investing and follow your intuition. As is often the
case, real estate is still the safest place to put money.
Jupiter in Cancer adds a strong focus
on the quality of home and family. Despite spring fever, many
people will elect to continue spending more time at home,
connecting with family and friends and focusing on what is
important on a heart level.
The planets Saturn and Pluto continue
to be in opposition. This is one of the main factors that
affected us heavily during the September 11th attack. An additional
challenge facing us, will be a Mars/Pluto opposition starting
on April 30th. Mars, the warrior planet, calls our attention
to the danger still facing our country from hostile forces
both within and without. Don't expect the war against terrorism
to end anytime soon. With Saturn and Mars both opposing Pluto,
a heavy combination of energies is affecting us all.
On a personal level, this time can be
stressful and damaging to both physical and mental well-being.
Now more than ever, it is important to take time to meditate
or spend time in spiritual practice to keep balance in your
life. Strenuous exercise should be approached with care. This
is also not the time to start a new diet, since the body will
be working to keep itself in shape.
On a brighter note, everyone's favorite
planet of love, Venus, is quite active during these two months.
Taurus, Gemini and Cancer will all have Venus moving through
them. Combined with the energy Mars is putting out now, there
are likely to be many opportunities for relationships this
spring. While you should be careful of sudden, impulsive affairs,
relationships that begin to develop during this period can
be very strong and have a deep spiritual foundation.
The outer planets Uranus and Neptune
are both still in the sign of Aquarius. This combination of
energies over the last few years has seen developments in
new areas of science that are controversial. This includes
the sciences of cloning and gene manipulation, which have
come to the public's attention via dramatic media stories
and debates. Uranus will continue in Aquarius for some time,
so we can expect to see even more dramatic developments in
these fields and other related technologies. We can also expect
developments in energy-related technologies this spring.
Neptune is still in the early stages
of its long journey in Aquarius. This marks an increase in
the development of the psychic and intuitive side of our nature.
Many people don't realize that the Age of Aquarius is still
in its infant stages. Clairvoyance and other psychic abilities
are moving to the forefront. Don't be too surprised to find
your own abilities developing at a faster pace. Children are
more likely during this time to show their natural psychic
abilities and gifts, and should be offered guidance.
This can be a trying period for each
of us, for the country and even for the world. The tragedy
of 9-11 still lingers and there is a feeling of uncertainty
in the air. While some of the aspects affecting us may be
troubling, they are only signposts. The road we each choose
to take is our own free choice. It is important to remember
that while the glass may appear half empty, it is also half
full. We must be conscious that we are moving through a period
of transformation that will affect each and every one of us.
How we choose to deal with this transformation will be the
defining action that carries us forward into the future.
