April/May 2005
Our journey into the Aquarian age is well underway. Events of the past several months have made it clear that we are undergoing tremendous planetary change. These changes are affecting each of us on an individual level as well as affecting the world community. There is a shifting global reality that has left many searching for the element that is missing in their lives. The search for spiritual foundation continues as the traditional structures of religion, politics and science face radical change.
Mercury went retrograde in late March, and it continues to move backwards through the 11th of April. These are always times to exercise caution and extra care especially in the areas of communication. It is not advisable to enter into contracts or legal agreements under this aspect. Care should also be taken in travel during this period.
This particular Mercury retrograde is a bit more intense since Jupiter is also moving in a backwards motion at this time. This is not a period to invest in real estate or to attempt to sell your house. Jupiter is currently in Libra, the sign of balance. This retrograde period will find many people seeking a point of balance in their personal lives. Jupiter rules our growth, our desire to learn and expand our horizons. This has to be balanced in our modern lives with relationships, family, career and other aspects of day-to-day living.
Romantic relationships get a positive boost in April. Venus will be in Aries at this time and will move into Taurus on the 16th of April. Venus rules Taurus so it's comfortable here. This energy will continue through the first two weeks of May. Exercise your creative energies before this time and enjoy the social scene. This is a wonderful time to meet new people and establish new connections in the arts and finance. For those already intimately involved, late April and early May present perfect times for romantic getaways. Venus will enter Gemini on the 11th of May, and the energy will begin to shift.
Mars is in Aquarius during the month of April, and this could lend a cold attitude to business dealings. Aquarian energy is that of the dreamer and can bring a level of detachment to those affected by this placement. Take measures to ensure that you are able to remain focused and able to accomplish important tasks in a timely manner. Delays are likely if you allow yourself to be taken in by these influences.
Once Mars enters Pisces on the 2nd of May, the effect is different but not especially more positive. Pisces is a water sign and the fiery Mars mixing with it can potentially produce a lot of steam. Watch your temper at this time and be aware of those around you.
Saturn is in the late stages of its journey in Cancer. This challenging aspect for the United States will slowly start to wind down in the Spring months. On a personal level, many people will begin to realize the depth of the life changes experienced over the past two years.
The outer planets continue to influence the global consciousness in a slow but consistent manner. Uranus in the sign of Pisces contributes to the changing face of traditional belief systems. We are seeing the slow breakdown of old structures. Outdated systems will continue to be challenged, and reforms will be attempted. These structures, and those who support them, will not simply yield their traditional places of power. With the Spring, we can expect to see more examples of this difficult period of transformation.
Neptune is currently in the sign of Aquarius, a part of the evolving age of Aquarius that we are experiencing. On May 19, Neptune will turn retrograde. Two days later the Sun enters Gemini, and this coupling will likely cause some difficulties in mental focus along with a certain amount of psychic static.
This general trend will continue through the end of May. Neptune will continue to move backwards until October of this year, so we will continue to experience this energy throughout the Summer.
Pluto is also moving retrograde during April and May. It's currently in Sagittarius and calls us to awaken our deeper selves to find our individual spiritual paths.
One of the most significant planetary movements that will begin to have a strong influence this Spring is the position of Chiron, which moved into Aquarius at the end of February. Chiron is the planet associated with the archetype of the wounded healer. Like all things, this has both a positive and negative aspect. We are already seeing the wounding on a large scale. The war in the Middle East drags on, and the damage to humans, animals and the environment will begin to become more evident. The strain on our planet from the rampant use of technology is the "wounding" we are all suffering. Chiron calls us to look at our wounds and how they affect us personally as well as their effect on the world around us. In order to move beyond the wounds and transform ourselves and our planet, we have to embrace the global transformation that is occurring. Global community and consciousness must become a focal point for each of us. From our wounds, we can emerge centered, stronger, and with a clear sense of direction.
