The Body/Mind Health Corner™

Dear Steve:
I am a singer and in the past 4 years I have
been suffering with a reoccurring bought of laryngitis. I really try to stay healthy by exercising, getting rest and taking vitamin supplements. But this keeps happening either before I have a performance or directly after (like the very evening after I am done singing)! Once I lost my voice the day of the wedding of my good friends who had asked me to sing! I felt really bad that I couldn't sing, but at that point there was nothing I could do. Is there any Metaphysical or Psychological reason for this to keep happening??

~ Sonia, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dear Sonia:
I tend to agree with Louise Hay's assessment that "anything that ends in 'itis' is anger." Your laryngitis is in your throat center, your communication center. Without any additional information about the symptoms and what was happening about 4 to 4 1/2 years ago, I can just give a generalized interpretation of your issues. There is something that angers you, either about your singing or your communications, or more specifically your communications about your singing. You may feel that you need to justify your singing as "serious" to people who may have challenged it in the past. There are goals that you have regarding your singing that you wish to strive more aggressively to meet.

You have a wonderful gift, and you DO love to share it. Give the credit to your VOICE, not to yourself. Let your VOICE pull you along to reach a wider variety of expression. Your voice speaks for itself. Each time you plan on singing or you sing, keep affirming that you are one step closer to both making "worthwhile" goals, and to meeting those goals. Additionally, there is an exercise called "Burning Karma" that I enjoy. See who you are angry at, whether it be God, yourself or somebody else. Call in the Light and affirm that you are to release this energy for healing, and that you do not mean any harm to anybody. Then, with several pencils, and several pieces of paper, call that person every name in the book. Write it out aggressively! Huff and puff, and release any extra energy until you feel purged. Then burn (safely) or rip the pieces of paper into tiny pieces. Follow this by IMMEDIATELY doing something that is pleasurable, to affirm that the extra energy is behind you. If you cannot get in touch with whom you are angry at, then that, in and of itself, is a good place to start...the frustration (anger) at not know what or whom you are angry at.

Positive Thought to Manifest: I express myself in the PERFECT form. I attract and accept the PERFECT support for that.

Any goal that supports a larger goal is a worthwhile goal,

~ Steve
